The colony is supposed to get recognised by the system defence force meaning they send personnel to take over the running of the spaceport leaving her out of a job.

Wondering at the variety of possibilities to explain what's going on then tried my hand at character creation.Ĭame up with a 42 year old Citizen/Worker who hailed from a fishing community run by a Corporation who went to university and took the opportunity to accompany another graduate to their colony where she began working as a dockworker.Įventually that colony managed to keep itself free of Corporation ownership albeit with some strife as they're willing to play dirty to secure the colony. I'd go into greater detail, but I figured this was enough to see if this would be a suitable start to an adventure in that setting?īeen looking at possible sub plots, but those need players to work properly.
The head of the team aboard the PCs ship isn't happy at the newcomer's presence and is quite hostile her actions should be alarming given the current circumstances. Its shortly after they arrive that another ship jumps in system and if hailed reveals they've been sent by the nearest system to deliver supplies to the colony due to a suspected outbreak though she wasn't told what it was only to deliver the supplies, maintain quarantine regulations before heading back out. However despite attempts to communicate there's no response. The only kink is that there are a few inhabitable moons most are located in orbit of one of the gas giants in the system and are the result of the gas giant providing enough warmth and breathable gas to keep them inhabitable. Upon arriving the system consists of 6 worlds and two asteroid belts with the mining outpost located in one of the asteroid belts and the only known inhabitable world being the second orbit and is more of a water world with limited surface land mass. The Corporation in charge is seemingly focused on some ruins located within the system, but part of the way there the system sends out a distress call before going silent.
The idea I've come up with so far is that an expedition has been sent to mining outpost near a remote colony. Hope folks find some use for it in their games.Been hankering after Traveller but really want to run in the T2300 setting. It really has become a great way to spark adventure ideas and a helpful tool for creating a foundation for a potential mission. However I’ve been surprised how flexible it is.

This adventure generator isn’t perfect and sometimes you get some wacky combinations that need to be reworked some. The end result you can find in my downloads section. To add some structure, certain types of adventures would utilize particular types of side missions, and additional charts I whipped up reflect that. This would also potentially throw in complications to the adventure. Success or failure from previous adventures might impact future tasks, so I created another chart to mimic that. As a twist, sometimes the players might have to go through some hoops to complete an adventure.

So I have a series of tables for the Do, Opposition, Something, etc. As a GM you roll two different colored d8 to represent the rows and columns of the tables. I expanded the potential outcomes and settled on a series of 8 x 8 tables. Sometimes things are a lot easier than expected and sometimes well… sh%t happens and everything goes pear shaped.Ī fan made supplement I’ve long gushed over, Savage Space, has a great adventure generator. Not to mention this sort of mirrors events in real life.
I loved this concept as I’m certain I tend to telegraph any secret intentions from NPCs. While the typical results mean that opposition or the expected situation is what the patron described, there is a chance things could be far more difficult, or that the entire situation is not what it initially seems. Essentially when the PCs get a patron, after making the initial meet and accepting a job, the GM rolls a d6. I also fell in love with an idea from Traveller Patrons books. In effect is this age of sail feel for the game, allowing players to potentially run from the law or bounty hunters (and making pursuits after baddies all that more aggravating). You jump so many parsecs and it takes about a week in this alternate space, regardless of the actual distance traveled. For my game I scooped up the idea of Traveller’s FTL travel. Each system they jump into they have a few options on employment opportunities. I employ a sci-fi version of a job board. The players are flying around in the Scalawag and seeing what trouble they can get into. So my sci-fi Savage Worlds game is chugging along.
